A Shining Example Of Hospitality – February 2025

I usually write my weekly blog telling everyone about the diminishing service quality experienced by those of us who choose to be on the road all the time for a living…or for leisure.  This week is an exception.  Yes, I’ve written recently about how disappointed I am in the diminishing quality of service I have received at Hilton properties – especially in light of my recent status as a Hilton Lifetime Diamond member – but I want to highlight one Hilton property that has never let me down, which I tremendously appreciate.

The Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona is probably one of the best facilities I have ever been to inside the Hilton brand.  I have never failed to experience appreciation as a customer and for my status when I show up there.

As is usually the case, when flying from the U.S.  to Europe, flights tend to leave in the afternoon and land in the morning.  And also as is usually the case, many hotel properties will not let you check in until 4 p.m. unless you paid for the night before.

There has never been a time when I showed up in the morning at the Hilton Diagonal Mar where they didn’t welcome me as the weary traveler that I was, and they’ve always found a room for me where I could take a shower, a nap, or both.  This trip was no exception.

This property is clean and beautiful, located across the street from a mall with wonderful restaurants and shops, and a full supermarket so I can always pick up the supplies that I need.

This time around, the cost of my hotel room was covered by a client, and they picked the property.  I had no control.  Still, I left a day early and paid out of my own pocket to spend my first night at this wonderful Hilton property, where I’ve always been treated as a special guest.  They even recognized my new lifetime Diamond status with a treat brought up to my room.

It’s a little far from the city center, which means one needs to take a 20-minute taxi ride instead of a 10-minute one to get around, but if you ever get the chance, definitely give this property a try.  It’s worth everything to be respected as a customer – especially nowadays.
